I've been thinking about investing in a lot of land a little ways outside of the Anchorage area (in the Knik area) and setting it up as a recreational outdoor cannabis grow area with a series of greenhouses. I would lease out the greenhouses to growers in the summer for a legal number of cannabis plants. I'd build a fence and take all precautions to ensure that the lot was secure from pests and unwelcomed people. I feel like it'd be a great way to create a sort of community between myself and a few other growers- and we could all work together to maintain the area while also having a safe place to work on our own grows.
My question is; is this legal? There are so many things to consider. First of all, you can only have 6 plants per household (or per person, per household?). Either way, we'd all be from different households- so essentially we wouldn't be breaking that specific rule. The second rule is- can we do an outdoor grow? From what I've heard you can't have your plants visible; they need to be in some kind of building. But, a greenhouse with opaque walls would ensure the plants aren't visible- and technically would be a building.
I know I'm treading on rough waters with this idea, but I feel like I wouldn't 100% be breaking any law- and with the leeway I have I could reasonably fight for it in court if I had to. What do you think? Any other laws I should consider? I feel like people would definitely lease out a greenhouse- I know there's a market for this kind of thing. I just don't know if I could, legally, get away with it.

I like this idea and agree with its potential. A big concern would be security. Nothing a few cameras couldnt handle.. But if there is a theft..youd be back into legal hoopla. Damn legalities of everything, so much if which isnt even defined yet.

If you havent looked into the cost of fencing, qualified enough to cover your property, you might take a look into it. Nothing about chain link fence is cheap and can run you more then the cost of your property. A friend of mine was tellig me about how some of the interior village's use to have large self sufficent green houses that supported the community. Id suggest you take a look at this guy Gypsy...... www.meyersfarm.net/He has been innovating the alaska grow industry and bucking the norm when it comes to growing in Alaska for the past few years, hope that helps.

Awesome, thanks for the tip skunkybudz. You're definitely right about the investment of chain-link fencing; which I was well aware of. It's a huge cost- and yep, definitely more than the cost of the land (especially in Alaska where our freight charges are outrageous for heavy items like that).
Wolf- definitely agree. Security would be a huge issue. I wonder if trail cameras would work or if you'd actually need some kind of live security system? Maybe have someone actually living on the property would be the best bet?

Id like to imagine any photo capturing bit would work.. But i would go live action security cameras, with the ability to view live on mobile devices ../or anywhere.
Makes for a great selling point (leasepoint). id love the ability to watch my plants grow from afar, if i had too..
