Harvest day is the day all your hard work pays off. You don't want to screw up now, or it was all for nothing.
I like to take the plant down a branch at a time and trim the buds right on the stems and then cut the manicured buds off the branches into a paper bag, the stem gets cut into small one inch pieces and goes into a plastic bag and into the freezer with the fresh leaves and trim to make hash later.
I then fold the paper bag (the large grocery store type) and store it in a cool dark place flipping the buds in the bag daily, don't over fill the bags I like to just layer the bottom. After three to seven days your buds will take on a dry crispy feel to the touch,you want to check them close and make sure they don't over dry you want to jar them and screw the lid on a jar and check the RH,I use the half gln jars to slowly bring down the RH to 65 % dry and then transfer to qrt jars for long storage.
I have jar lids that give the RH in the jars I get them on ebay. If the RH is like 80% put them back in the bag for a day and try again tomorrow but leave the lid off and restack the buds in the jar daily so they don't mold on the bottom, and don't put the lid on very long IF ITS WET IT WILL MOLD IN THE JAR ask me how I know. lol
I then burp the jars several times a day until the RH gets down to around 65 % then throw in a Boveda 62% and leave cure in a cool dark place the longer the better burp once in awhile and sample of course .

What beautiful work you do, someone who knows how to dry indeed. I've never seen the RH lids before, that's new to me, and "FREAKING AWESOME"!!

Thanks ! I lost some to mold before so want to help the next person so that don't happen. It sure is a fine line from wet to dry and cured and you have to be carful if you fast dry it will taste like shit forever, dry slow and steady and don't cover it until its like 70% RH and yes those lids are a great investment well worth the money.
I burp the jars for like three weeks until it gets down to 65% then throw in a Boveda 62 and cure for a month if you can. longer the better.

Do you stick them in the fridge at any point during the process?

No, the fridge will slow down the drying process but can pick up funky smells and flavors,like from the leftover spaghetti. So just get them out of direct heat like inside a closet in a paper bag that will slow them down enough to get a decent cure started.

I haven't had that experience yet, I've been drying in mason jars for a few years, switching from paper bag for in the cool closet, to mason jar for the fridge. I like what your doing, I'm going to give it a shot, thanks for the info.

Good luck Man. Here are the scissors I use for trimming buds. The curved blade takes a bit of getting used to,I prefer the straight. The thicker pruning shear is for cutting branches off and cutting up the stems for the trim/hash bag.

I also have a couple of these Caliber III You can stick one inside a jar and check the RH through the glass, works pretty good if you don't have lids. I think they were like $20 in ebay might find them cheaper. Also a good idea to monitor the RH of the room the bags are drying in,gives and idea of how fast they will dry.
